When fitted, writing on chip must face upwards. Important Information Pertaining to the WillauTronic™ eSmog-Responders™ (Chips) 1. The difference between the small silver and large blue WillauTronic™ eSmog-Responders™ (chips) has nothing to do with the silver chip being “old“ and the blue chip being “new“; rather, their only difference is their size (“small” vs. “large”) and their intended positioning due to mobile phone manufacturers’ fitting restrictions. 2. The “large“ blue chip is not an updated / improved version of the “small“ silver chip. 3. Both chips are based on, and use, the same technology. 4. The “small” silver chip was designed to be positioned on the inside of mobile phones (e.g., Razor) and smart phones (Blackberry, Nokia, etc.), on the battery, in close proximity to the contacts. 5. The “large“ blue chip was designed exclusively for mobile phones the backs of which cannot be removed (Apple iPhones); hence it is impossible to fit a “large” blue chip on the inside of an Apple iPhone. The blue chip is to be fitted on the outside of the back of Apple iPhones only. 6. Tests with the “small” silver chip have shown that its thickness would not allow for it to be fitted on the back of the Apple iPhone (outside), as it would interfere with clothing. 7. This was the reason why Walter Laufs decided to come up with a thinner chip version, without so much as affecting the chip’s storage capacity, i.e., the reduced thickness needed to be made up for by added size. Both chips have the same volume of 120mm³ / 4.7244in³. Evidently, the chips’ functionality is subjected to the highest quality scrutiny. 8. Due to its size, the “large“ blue chip is not suitable for regular mobile phones (Razor, Blackberry, etc.) as it might compromise the contacts on the battery. 9. Due to the fact that mobile phones keep getting smaller and thinner, their inner space – between battery and back cover – is being reduced. This is why the protective foil on the back of the “small” silver chip must always be peeled off before positioning the chip. At 2/10 mm (0.008in), the thickness of the protective foil makes for a third of the chip’s total thickness.
